2018 began with intense bombardments, military operations and propaganda by the American invaders of Afghanistan but it ended with the neutralization of yet another enemy strategy by the zealous and courageous Taliban.
In a report released by the Taliban termed, precise data collected from concerned areas and verified by primary sources, with no room for suspicious or inaccurate information, it was stated that:
"In the year 2018, a total of 10,638 attacks were carried out by Mujahideen (ie the Taliban) against invaders and their hirelings from which 31 were martyr operations which resulted in the death of 249 US and other invading troops and injuries to 153 along with death toll of 22,594 inflicted on Kabul administration troops, intelligence operatives, commandos, police and Arbakis with a further 14,063 sustaining injuries.
Among the fatalities 514 were enemy commanders killed and eliminated in various attacks across the country.
During 2018 a total of 3,613 vehicles including APCs, pickup trucks and other variants were destroyed along with 26 aircrafts including 8 UAVs, 17 helicopters of foreign and internal forces and 1 cargo plane shot down.
Moreover, a total of 29 district administration centers were liberated by the Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate over the course of last year, among which some were retained and others abandoned for military and strategy reasons.
This year a total of 61 districts along with their administration centers were in the complete control of Mujahideen.
This hard felt defeat of America had led them to call for negotiation even at the terms of the Taliban. The Taliban has steadfastly refused to negotiate with the Afghan government, which it views as an “impotent” “stooge” and “puppet” of the US. The Taliban has demanded that American troops leave the country, Taliban prisoners be freed, and its leaders removed from the UN blacklist before the Taliban even considers talking with the government. The Taliban also rejects democracy, refuses to share power with the government, and most importantly, calls elections “un-Islamic.” and reversal to the Islāmic Sharī'a system.
For years, the Taliban and al Qaeda have told their followers that victory is on the horizon. “Verily, Allāh has promised us victory and America has promised us defeat, so we shall see which of the two promises will be fulfilled,” Mullah Omar has been quoted as saying and more recently, al Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahiri claimed that the Taliban’s resurrected Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will be the “nucleus” of a new caliphate.
After the announcements by US President of it troops withdrawal from Afghanistan and Syria, long war journal called this move "a fulfilled prophesy and a clear triumph"
And also noted that "more troubling to us than a so-called “endless war,” however, is an outright jihadist victory. And that’s what Trump’s withdrawal of the small American force in country all but guarantees. Today, their predictions look prophetic. The precipitous withdrawal of US forces will grant the Taliban and al Qaeda a victory. Just as the mujahideen vanquished one superpower in Afghanistan, they will now claim to have defeated a second."
