The US “deal of the century” is ready and US President Donald Trump has been briefed about its content this weekend according to two senior US officials.

Fox News reported that the draft of the deal consists of 175 to 200 pages, stressing that less than five people know about its full contents.

Since assuming office, US President Donald Trump has pushed a hard-line policy on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Washington has recognized Jerusalem as the Israeli capital and opened an embassy there in May 2018, moves widely criticized by the international community.

With the White House set to announce its proposal "in due course," little is known about what the White House dubs the "deal of the century," the Trump administration's proposal to end the decades long conflict. Reports suggest that the White House is taking action to get rid off potential roadblocks ahead of its announcement.

Senior presidential adviser Jared Kurshner, Trump's son-in-law, has steadily pushed forward with the plan , shuttling across the Middle East to shore up support for key features of the deal.

The so-called ‘Deal of the Century’ is claimed by Trump’s Administration to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict but has been seen as a way to push the Palestinians to make concessions. The relocation of the US embassy to Jerusalem was thought to be just one part of the plan.

The Palestinian Authority (PA), along with all Palestinian factions, have voiced their rejection to the Deal. They condemned the relocation of the US embassy to Jerusalem and President Trump’s announcement that the city would act as the united capital of Israel.

However, whether or not the “deal” is proposed is not as important as what is happening on the ground: the embodiment of a full US-Israeli partnership moving ahead with all of the Israeli government’s demands, on the pretext that this is consistent with reality - a reality imposed by force to perpetuate occupation, land confiscation, annexation, intolerance, racism and settler-colonial expansion.

It is not even accurate to deem the US plan a “deal” because a “deal” requires consent from both parties to the conflict.
