In the Name of Allāh, the Beneficent, the Merciful [ ]
When the Zionist leader Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party and Benny Gantz’s Blue and white party secured an equal amount of seats during the elections that were held in occupied Palestine, questions were being asked: “Who has won the Israel election and what happens next?” read a headline in the Guardian. “Is Netanyahu’s victory a sign of peace?” as was claimed by the US President Donald Trump.
However, the first thing that the Muslims of Palestine in particular, and the Ummah in general, should not forget, is that the Jews, irrespective of whether they support the Zionist movement or not, do not intend any good for Islām and its people. As a Muslim, one does not have to reflect upon the mass atrocity crimes that they as a people have inflicted upon the Ummah in order to arrive at this conclusion. For Allāh تعالى has clearly stated in the Book that:
“Neither those who disbelieve among the People of the Scripture [Jews and Christians], nor the polytheists, like that there should be sent down unto you any good from your Lord.” (1)
He تعالى also said:
“...And you will certainly hear from those who received the Book before you, as well as from those who associate others with Allāh, much abuse...” (2)
Indeed, statements of hatred and contempt for Muslims became the means through which Zionist leaders sought to secure victory in the elections.
Gantz, who was chief of staff of the military during the inhumane attack on Gaza in 2014 that resulted in the death of over 2000 Muslims, is but one example in this regard. He launched his campaign by releasing a video ad in which he brags about the amount of Muslims he had killed during the atrocity, “Parts of Gaza were sent back to the Stone Age”, he declared in the video.
Netanyahu was also quite frank during his campaign, declaring that “Israel is not a state of all its citizens”. He went on to claim that it is, “the nation state of the Jewish people and them alone”. In an attempt to appease the far-right, he also promised to annex the illegal settlements in the West Bank.
Such intolerance actually pre-dates the elections. Thus Avigdor Lieberman is recorded to have called for the beheading of those who don’t support the Jewish character of the state with an axe.
The infamous Ayelet Shaked is still unrepentant for her act of inciting genocide against the Muslims of Palestine in 2014, while Naftali Bennett is documented as proudly announcing that he has killed a lot of Arabs in his lifetime. (3)
So, as for the question “Who has won the election, and what happens next?” Well for the Muslims it really doesn’t matter who wins the elections, as there is no difference between any of the candidates, with regards to their hatred for Muslims. As for what happens next, then one should not share the same expectations promoted by Donald Trump, i.e. peace as a result of a Netanyahu victory. (4)
For indeed, from his recognition of Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the Jewish state, to his acknowledgement of Jewish sovereignty over the Golan Heights, the US President has done everything to ensure that the flames of war remain kindled between the Muslims and the Jews.
n fact, even if there were to be some form of peace treaty between the two groups, the Jews have proven throughout history to be treacherous: Netanyahu’s two decade campaign to put an end to the Oslo Accords is but one example, and Allāh تعالى says:
“Is it not [the case] that every time they make a covenant, some party among them throw it aside? Nay! Most of them believe not.” (5)
